Hello friends!~ Guess what? I got started on my Christmas decorations this weekend.... finally. I always like a slightly non-traditional look to my Christmas decor. Like last year I went branch happy! Mainly because I had a HUGE tree limb fall in my front yard just before the decorating began... (and I took it as a sign~HA) Looking back I also think that was about the time my obsession with all things gold and silver begun. Here was last year. Sort of a vintage silver and gold look with one h-e-double-hockey-sticks (<-- pun intended) of a lot of branches
And... I was Rubbing and Buffing (Rub n' Buff) the heck out of everything!
This year.... still going with gold, because I LOVE GOLD.
But I'm doing more of a Christmas feel without necessarily using lot's of "Christmas" decorations.
I'm using my vintage brass pieces, with chandelier crystals, lots of glass, and candles, with just a sprinkle of actual Christmas decorations thrown in.
Our formal dining room table is one of the first things you see after walking through the front door entryway hall. So I thought this year I'd make it a Christmas focal point, but not the dinner table with place setting kind! We rarely use this table for dining so it made sense to me to use it more like a great big accent table!
I wrapped a bunch of little boxes with brown paper (last year) and threw them in a ceramic pot for this year.
I'm using glass bottles of any kind really, as long as they fit a candle. Even using vintage perfume bottles!
I think the chandelier crystals kind of look like ice... so they are my version of icicles.
As far as actual Christmas decorations, there's really only a handful of Christmas ornaments, and a tree topper angel thrown in the mix, but I think it still feels super Christmasy don't you?
So that's it for now, I'm still sorting through stuff and working out what I want where and how I want it, blah, blah blah, but at least I've gotten started!
Smiles!
Sammy,
